Foundation members receive access to all the courses available
on the RCGP Online Learning Environment.
Managing Acute Respiratory
Tract Infections
The Managing Acute Respiratory Tract Infections course enables
you to improve the care you provide to patients presenting with
acute ear pain, acute sore throat, sinusitis and acute cough. It
explains why it is crucial to evaluate your everyday prescribing
decisions and gives examples of methods you can use to do this, as
an individual and within a practice, and encourages you to identify
barriers to change It also reviews the clinical knowledge,
communication skills and tools needed to assess and treat patients
most effectively.
This online course has been developed through a partnership
between the RCGP and the Health Protection Agency's Primary Care
Unit. It was funded by an educational grant from the British
Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy.

Commissioning in General
Practice: Improving Patient Journeys
The first in the RCGP's new Commissioning in General Practice
series, this course will enable GPs and their teams to help
patients navigate effectively through the healthcare system. It
also contains practical tips on how to avoid unnecessary delays and
improve referrals quality in everyday practice.
Incorporating common case scenarios, this course focuses on how
to improve referrals quality and management, deal on an everyday
basis with the common bottlenecks faced by patients and influence
the development of local referral pathways.

Management of Drug
Misuse
This consists of two online courses which form part of the
RCGP Certificate in the Management of Drug Misuse - Part
1. They can also be completed independently for self-directed
learning.
The Harm Reduction course will help GPs identify the needs of
patients who use illicit drugs and the risks of harm and will
familiarise them with national clinical guidance in the management
of drug misuse.
The Treatment Planning course will support GPs by discussing the
national clinical guidance for the care of patients using illicit
drugs, the principles and practice of dose induction and safe
prescribing for the treatment of drug-using patients in primary
care and the range of treatment interventions for patients who use
opioids.
These courses were developed by the RCGP Substance Misuse
Unit.

Sexual Health in General
Practice
This course forms part of the RCGP Introductory Certificate in
Sexual Health (ICSH). You can also take this course separately for
self-directed learning. The course provides a basic grounding in
sexual health issues for practising GPs.
The course was developed by the RCGP Sex, Drugs and HIV Task
Group, in partnership with the Medical Foundation for AIDS &
Sexual Health (MedFASH).

Supporting Couple
Relationships in General Practice
This short online course helps GPs to recognise relationship
issues in patients and the potential impact these can have on
health.
The course recommends appropriate sources of support, including
online resources, self-help guides and useful information and
services for patients.
Supporting Couple Relationships in General Practice has been
developed in partnership with One Plus One, the UK's leading
relationship research organisation.

Improving Access to
Psychological Therapies (IAPT)
This online course supports GPs and other primary care
practitioners caring for people with common mental health problems.
It consists of approximately 2 hours of engaging e-learning
activities and formative self-assessments to facilitate learning
and reflection. Links to resources and further reading/activities
are also provided.
The IAPT course was developed in partnership with the IAPT
National Primary Care Programme and the RCGP and is provided FREE
of charge.
